Welcome to Nafplion.

Nafplion is the capital of Argolida state and the main port of Eastern Peloponnese. The population of the city is 14,203 inhabitants (2011) and is the second largest city of the state.
Nafplion has become known in history as the years 1828-1833 was the capital of Greece, even before she moved to Athens. Is also known because it has Palamidi (town's famous castle), Bourtzi (the fort at the city port entrance), but also as a place of Ioannis Kapodistrias murder.
Nafplio is one of the most beautifull and picturesque cities in the country and is an ideal destination for holidays and short trips, primarily for residents of Athens and Peloponnese because it's  a little far  from both areas. It is 2.5 hours from Athens and Kalamata and about 3 hours from Patras and Sparta.
